Teatro Verdi
Teatro Municipale Giuseppe Verdi
The town’s opera house of 1872, a small copy of the San Carlo in Naples, red and gold inside.
The Teatro Verdi opened in 1872 beside the Villa Comunale. Inside it is a horseshoe of boxes in red and gold, built after the example of the Teatro San Carlo in Naples.
Its curtain, painted by Domenico Morelli, shows the people of Salerno driving out the Saracens. It still has an opera season every year. Visit it in 3D ›
