Belfry

Belfort

The 83-metre belfry over the Markt: 366 steps up to its carillon of 47 bells.

See it in 3D Watch the tour

The Belfry was the town’s watchtower and treasury, where the city’s charters were kept safe. Its lower part dates from the 13th century; the octagonal top was added in the 15th. It leans about a metre to the east.

Climb its 366 steps and you reach the carillon of 47 bells, still played by the city carillonneur.
