Piazza della Repubblica
Where the Roman forum was, now a square with a carousel and old cafés under a triumphal arch.
The square lies where the forum of Roman Florentia stood and, later, the old market and the Jewish ghetto, all cleared in the 1880s to make a grand modern square, with a triumphal arch.
Its old cafés, like the Giubbe Rosse where writers and artists met, and a carousel make it a meeting point day and night.
