Cathedral of Our Lady
Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekathedraal
The largest Gothic church in the Low Countries, its spire 123 metres high, with four Rubens altarpieces.
The cathedral was built from 1352 to 1521, and its north tower rises 123 metres: the tallest church tower in Belgium. The south tower was never finished.
Inside hang four great works by Rubens, among them the Elevation of the Cross and the Descent from the Cross. In Nello and Patrasche, Nello dies before them with his dog at Christmas.
