The Little Street
Het straatje
A brick house in Delft, a woman sewing in the doorway, another bent over a barrel in the alley beside it.
One of only two views of Delft Vermeer painted. In 2015 a register of what the house owners paid for dredging the canals, from 1667, showed which houses they were: on the Vlamingstraat, where his aunt lived and sold tripe.
Henri Deterding, the oil man, gave it to the Rijksmuseum in 1921. Stand before it in 3D ›
