Primavera
Spring
Venus in her orange grove with the three Graces, Flora and the winds of spring.
In a dark grove of orange trees, Venus stands in the middle with Cupid aiming his arrow over her head. On the left the three Graces dance and Mercury pokes at the clouds; on the right Zephyr, the west wind, catches the nymph Chloris, who turns into Flora, strewing flowers in her painted dress.
It hung in a Medici house in Florence. Botanists have counted some 500 plants on its meadow, about 190 of them different flowers, nearly all of them ones that bloom around Florence in spring. Stand before it in 3D ›
