The bronze statue was given to the city by the brewer Carl Jacobsen in 1913, after he saw a ballet of Andersen’s tale. She sits on a rock at Langelinie, looking out over the water.

She is famously small, barely 1.25 metres, and has lost her head twice to vandals. She lies a little north of the piece of Copenhagen in the game. Ride through Copenhagen in 3D ›
