Avignon is a walled city on the Rhône in Provence, in the south of France. For most of the 14th century the popes lived here instead of in Rome, and they left behind the largest Gothic palace in Europe and more than four kilometres of ramparts. Every July its theatre festival fills the old town with plays, actors and posters.
Still in development: expect some rough edges.
